Preity Zinta in Videsh a Mirror Image of Aishwarya Rai in Provoked

After a long long IPL break Preity will be back on silver screen with her latest movie Videsh - Heaven on Earth but there are such doubtless similarities to Aishwarya's Provoked. Though director Deepa Mehta reiterates that "Videsh - Heaven on Earth" is a story of Indian immigrant's hardship in Canada and not purely based on domestic violence.

Preity's character in the movie is of a young Punjabi bride who makes a shift to Canada after her wedding and faces domestic violence in a foreign land with no where to go. Preity will be seen without makeup in most of the scenes keeping the character close to reality. The brutality portrayed in the movie is such that censor board rejected UA rating for the movie but a new cut of the movie has been submitted by Deepa Mehta to get a U stamp. Preity is so glad that she did Videsh - Heaven on Earth that she called it the role of her lifetime. Guess with no projects in hand such opportunity does leave a person overwhelmed.

Whether or not Videsh is like provoked the thing is that in the summer of recession the movies should be about euphoria and finding Neverland not overdose of reality and head churning drama. Bring on some mindless comedies like Maine Pyaar Kyoun Kiya
